Firestorm Friday Blog - 07/31/09

Thursday, July 30, 2009 2 comments

Well folks, after many moons, and waiting patiently, AMNE has finally launched. Let's hope that today was not the end of a run, but the beginning. Major resistance at .009...has been a stopping point for the last few times it ran.

GGC was a huge surprise, coming from a reverse split, which I thought was the end of the world, to a tremendous run. I was resigning myself to a loss, but will come out with substantial gain. I like those surprises.

GNBT is becoming a dying dog. It's not performing as expected, and seems to be hovering between .66-.72. I'm somewhat amazed because it's above the Ma50, Ma200, and the parsar. The last spike broke the parsar, but unlike the last three spikes, did not become a single bagger. I'm still in profit, but am ready to move on if no results soon.

WNBD is in accumulation, and I expect it to fly at any moment. It's just a matter of time. And patience.

I'll leave the other picks alone for now. July's stock challenge, which I haven't even completed it every day, stand at a gain of 58%. Not bad for starting middle of the month. Best regards, and good things to come in the next few weeks!!

Seems like the pennies had a mixed bag today. Most of my stocks had extreme fluctuations, none of which were on the positive side for the most part.

I sold SPNG, even though I like what it could become. The main reason I sold was because the resistances are so strong, that I feel I could make more money elsewhere. For all those dedicated SPNG fans, keep holding. I'm sure someday it will perform, but I'm afraid it may see a lull again.

AMNE tanked...Upsettingly. Why? Profit taking. It found it's previous parking spot at .005. This stock could become the next BEHL in my opinion. The forward split is fast approaching, and it could really take off. I tried to grab some more shares, as I think it will recover tomorrow. Personally, I'm tired of seeing it in my portfolio.

GNBT surprised me. Signals pointed north, and it reversed direction today. All signals still look good, so it appears that this is a period of accumulation. Let's see what tomorrow holds. I still think it could hit a buck before it's all said and done. Look at the history and you will see what I mean.

WNBD is still accumulating. Nuff said on that. Will post a revised list of picks here shortly.

And if any of you are on Zecco, please give me some feedback. I'm currently using Scottrade, and am paying out the nose in trading fees. I've got a Sogotrade account, and although it might be good for shorting, I can't use it for pinkies and OTC stocks. They are not available to them.

Today ended much better than I had expected. AMNE took a climb, and a great one at that. From .004ish to .0059. I think this run will continue on through tomorrow. Hoping for a tremendous run.

SPNG gave a buy signal (DI+ crossed over ADX). Nice little diddy from .102 to .12. Great mover. Glad I held on to it. WNBD is accumulating at this level, and is getting some additional news supports. I bought GNBT today, another buy signal. I expect .80 to 1.00 out of this one. Maybe more.

GGC rebounded nicely from a poorly played purchase. A very valuable rule for all newbies and even experienced traders....Never, ever buy in the first hour of trading...especially in a spike. This is just plain stupidness. Sorry for the bluntness, but this has caught me so many times, you would think I would have learned by now. The only exception to this rule is if the stock is stable and has high acculumation at roughly the same bid/ask levels.

Had a tremendous day, and thankful for it. Was pretty beaten down over the last two weeks, and lost about 20% of my portfolio. Now, we're down 10%, and looking to finish July with some healthy fireworks over the next couple weeks. Looks like news reports are mixed, so hold the NYSE and NASDAQ stocks at bay...they are hard to play right now until some stability comes.

Currently in the midst of starting a new site, with forum, signup and more picks. A good friend is working on the site, and is doing a great job. Expect to launch in mid August. I had just redone this site, but as time is going on, and a lot more traffic, I wanted more interaction with my fellow stock traders, and want to get more offerings and content so we can all be successful traders. Sticking together is essential and I'm still learning all the ins and outs of a vast sea of info and techniques in the stock market. I don't know it all, but would I appreciate all the comments, as well as stock suggestions and insights.

I've had to go out of town for the last few days and the hotel that advertised internet connection has had some technical problems. After two days, I'm now able to post.

I'll be looking over the picks, and let you know what's going on. Some crazy transactions lately, will update you.

Well, I sort of feel like I've went 90 seconds with Mike Tyson, and am seeing stars lately. Let's take a look and see what's gone right and what's gone wrong:

What's gone wrong (let's get this out of my system, ok?):
  • OSCI went bankrupt. Thankfully I got out half at .14, the other half at .06. The chance you take with any stock, but I didn't see it coming.
  • SPNG - all great news, and it's sinking? Something is definitely wrong with this picture, you blood sucking MMs.
  • WNBD - no comment. I could, but it's better for me not too.
  • IDOI - at 25% haircut on good news?
What's gone right (short list, but positive is positive):
  • LGTT is no longer my puss-filled stock sore....my ugly cross-eyed Aunt Bertha....my Donald Trump hairdo....
  • AMNE has not went any lower. Maybe a bottom. Maybe not.
I took a break a few weeks ago, and three good run days....I traded foolishly, and quickly. This time, it seems like perfect storms are developing all around me. Maybe Timothy Sykes is shorting my stocks so he stays ahead at covestor? lol

Anyway, I've not given up hope. I always thought good news helped a stock. Obviously, my current holdings are perfect examples of this not working. Still keeping the chin up, and still planning on a better week. This one has been disastrous.

This has been a fairly sideways week for me. I haven't traded much, and have held on to most of my stocks. Some I can't trade...I refuse to take a loss on them. I hate holding for long periods of time, but sometimes the nature of the beast forces you to hold or take the loss. I have found that too many times I have traded too soon, and lost the moola because of my impatience. Remember, you only lose money if you sell. That sounds simple doesn't it? Sure, the worth of a stock may decrease, but once you click the "sell" button, and you are in the negative, then you lose money.

This was a hard concept for me, and there will always be times that taking a loss short term is better than long term. Consider my last year's debacle: FMT. or FMNT. or FMTNQ. It changed hands so many times I can't remember them all. But I played russian roulette and lost. Badly. Should have sold on the first day the stock took a hit. Bought in at .52 and thought it would rebound...as a newbie, all the message board "gurus" said it would be ok...no big deal. I could have sold at .42 and taken a small loss, but continued to hold. Then, I finally sold 2 months later on a peak day of .12 and realized my stupid mistake.

5 Stupid Mistakes I've learned:
  • Message boards feed on new traders...it's like the slickbacked used car salesman. They are looking for the next sucker to pull in.
  • Don't risk everything on one stock. This is just plain stupid. Diversify, even if in half.
  • Patience costs money. 9 out of 10 times you will not find the bottom selling price. Don't panic. Expect to lose some initally, and plan for when you place an order.
  • Set your loss limits AND your gain limits. Getting greedy always has a cost.
  • Never ever place a market order or buy more stock than you can feasibly sell. I could buy 5million shares of AMNE, but if the daily average is 3million, this almost becomes impossible to take advantage of pps increases and spikes.
I don't expect to see a tremendous change today, as it's Friday, and the middle of July. Many of my stocks are not Friday runners, so it may be a good time to average down or pick up some good deals. I do expect some runs on IDOI, WNBD, and SPNG though. All three had news yesterday, so maybe we will have a delayed run. The news for SPNG was too good not to run, and quite frankly am surprised at the current price.

I'm going to be working on some new things for the site, and hopefully the next few months will offer much more than it currently is today. Good luck today, and hope you have a great weekend.

I'm not sandbagging on my picks...I have full confidence in the array that is currently standing.

However....

Every scan that I have set up currently is showing everything in a downward trend. I guess if you've never shorted before, now's the time. Chances are, you will win. Don't buck the trend until a bottom is evident. As I posted on Monday, the drum beat keeps going, and despite such doom and gloom, I'm thankfully still making money.

IDOI took off today, and should have a good run tomorrow. AMNE is faithful at parking at .005. SPNG got a late day shot in the arm, and may have a good jump tomorrow. LGTT needs a lifevest (again). OSCI is uncertain, an WNBD took a small retracement, but has some great potential. I think it's being hyped some, but I could care less about the company. Just show me the money, and I'll be glad to move on.

I'll be searching tomorrow for any changes to the current picks. My one outlier is EESO...I don't like it for short term.

Guess what? We're doomed.....We're all doomed..... That's the essence of all the headlines I'm reading...And truth is....no one knows what will happen. But let's keep beating the drum long enough, and what will happen?

For all those geeky Star Wars fans (don't worry, I'm one of them), when General Grevious tells Obi-wan Kenobi, "You must realize YOU....ARE....DOOMED". I feel like I've travelled to a galaxy far, far away. News reports, commentary, doomsday prophecies, retrospective chart diagrams.....Yes, I could probably mimic them all. Let's line out some known facts, and you can determine for yourself:

  1. We've had the largest debacle in history of global finance. People spent a lot more than they could afford, and everything came to a screeching halt. (Boy, that's a shock).
  2. Our government is flushing lots of dollars at lost causes. (Let's give more to BK companies, ok?)
  3. Unemployment is bad...not horrific, but bad. (So much for arguing with my boss, right?)
  4. The individual savings per person is going up. (This is debatable...I have yet to escape crowded Walmart without being hit by another buggy)
  5. And here is a shocker.....Markets go Up and DOWN.... (Really? You've got to be kidding...)

As a disclaimer, I am not a financial guru. I cannot tell you with all the matrices, charts and graphs, financial lexicons and jargon what the truth of all things equate to. Here's a startling thought though...Where were all these knuckleheads 3 years ago? How about one year ago? Did warning bells not go off then? Did we not have all the computer models and pretty spreadsheets to tell us we were in for a near collapse of our economy?

So we give doomsday reporters more steam and fuel their fire. Here's startling thought number two....What season are we in? Do we expect dramatic recovery while people are trying to scrounge enough money to take a small vacation with the family? Are we that naive to think that summer isn't a slow time in the market? Even stock traders take vacations....

I had to get this out of my system, but truth be told, be careful and take profits. I recently lost a good run...I bought BIEL at .011 and sold at .015, only to see the stock climb to .049. I lost a few hundred percent, but still cleared profit. Pennies are taking steep declines before they reach the resistances, and it's hard to tell what will continue and what won't. I have been subject to the pump and dump too many times, and the hopes of that future spike to previous levels never seems to come, nor will it come. Accept that, and you'll make money.

Pennies and Pinkies are not usually susceptible to the fluctuations of the Dow and Nasdaq, but recently they have been. So, I'm not risking my profits...you shouldn't either. Last week was somewhat of a sideways week...I expect July to be a great month, despite the doomsday messages going forth.

Well, I did not hit my goal for the month of June, but this has been a very turbulent time, and I expect July to be a phenomenal month. Since it's late, I'll talk in very brief statements...seems like that's the only way my brain works after hours anyway.

IGNT took a joy ride to .0122, then quickly nose-dived. I expect it to return to those levels, but with this stock, you have to play the dips. Don't count on the next day. With BIEL, I could kick myself. Could have had a 4 bagger. But, those opportunities are rare. I am a sole believer in taking profits right now. AMNE can't lose much more ground - parking spot at .005 -Accumulating for a run IMO. IDOI - look at the shares traded - It's astronomical - Count on a run soon. LGTT - the run was denied - Lord, please don't put me underwater on this trash.

At the end of the day, I bought OMEX. It's starting to pinch, and I hope this will generate a good run short term. Looking for 2.00 to 2.50.

Looking hard at MYNG to add to the watch list. Needs to find some support. Lots of good plays right now...must get a few good runs to reach my July quota. My goal is to double the account in one month.

Picks are the same - keep watch and take profits.

Well, after a short hiatus, I'm back again. I've got a few great stocks I've been watching over the last two trading sessions, and I'll get to share them with you here.

As for Monday's trading activity, I was a little surprised at how positive and green the day was. BIEL had been a pick from last week, I bought on impulse, and surprisingly did well today. I sold at .015, figuring that it would stabilize, but continued the run. I wouldn't give it much more than the first half hour of the trading day to pullback. History repeats itself with this one.

Yes, I did stupid again. I bought LGTT. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. But this one should have a good run..I mean look at the 148 million shares traded. This should mean something. It doubled the highest trading day for this company, so I would say that something good is about to happen. In at .0025. Aside from the gut feeling, it broke through the parsar, and the Ma50. Needless to say, I'm planning on a good run this week (hopefully tomorrow).

Expecting good days tomorrow on AMNE, IGNT, and IDOI. Lots of volume on each of this, so I'm hoping for an early fireworks display.

My solo dog, OSCI, has been flirting with .20 and I hope that it will find some resurgence soon. I'm on the backhalf of a bad trade, and hoping to get out. Once it caved through the Ma50, it has yet to get legs. Let's hope that it can find a small measure of steam to cut my losses.

All of my picks and watch items will now be located on the stock picks tab. If you'd rather not read my ramblings, bookmark the picks. Have a great day and hope you find success today.

Another adjustment day on Friday but not to worry. Still looking for another strong week ahead. I hate Friday trading sessions with a passion. Nine out of ten times you can buy whatever you are holding cheaper on Friday.

IGNT did not perform as I had expected, dropping into the .008s. Hopefully this is accumulation. Too much good news and too many shares traded not to recover. HAYZQ had some additional volume....Not too sure on this one, but seems to have found a bottom. Still holding EESO and AMNE. Bought SPNG on Thursday, and looks like it will have a good run relatively soon. If you bought BCLE, you need to label it as a long termer. It is not a pump and dump, so don't treat it as one.

Abandoning the 10% challenge until I have more time in a couple weeks. Still doing the class work for Six Sigma certification, and I will say that my posts will be limited this week. This class is very intense and yet it's like reading an encyclopedia. I test on it next week, so until it's over, you can follow my trades on Covestor.

Today was an adjustment day, and after the last five days I've had, I can't complain at all. And for the most part, it was just sideways. I wanted to claim my gains, and thankfully I did that.

SYNJ started out of the gate fast, then did the typical stop, drop, and roll. Got out with a good profit. EESO did the same, however, I feel it has more strength than SYNJ. I stayed in EESO. On recommendation, I bought IGNT, which just released news after hours:

YUCAIPA, Calif., June 18, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ingen Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:IGNT -News) a leading Medical Device Manufacturer focused in the $8 Billion global Respiratory Markets for the growing ageing population and emerging markets for Home (DME), Hospital and Aviation Industries announced today that the company increased the first shipment of Oxyview-Nasal Cannula orders from 10,000 to 62,000 units, and increased production inventory for June to 100,000 units for a revenue value of $2.8 million.

So hopefully, this will propel some upward movement tomorrow. BCLE has started a good run, and I wish I had bought more, but you can't win them all. I think it will continue tomorrow. HAYZQ is in accumulation and has a parking space at the .07 mark. I have a feeling this one will take awhile.

My 10% candidates for today were: ABK (1.24 to 1.25, +2%), FRE (.68 to .72, +2%), and ASTM (.37 to .46, +29%). ASTM was on fire today.

My 10% candidates for today are: ABK, FRE/FNM, ASTM. I still like em.

What a phenomenal day on Wednesday. I am very grateful for the day - a 25% increase in my account. Very thankful for my stock picks and how they performed.

SYNJ had a surprise run....I was ready to give up the ghost on it. It hit .14 and I started sweating bullets. But thankfully, some crazy spark hit, and then it took off. It has a bullish engulfing pattern, so today should at least have a spike in the AM. I'll not hold it for long...trust me.

EESO also took off. I knew it had potential based on the chart. Let's see where it goes today. I have no faith in continued runs for penny stocks. The message boards make all pennies sound like the best thing since sliced bread, but truthfully, they are penny stocks for a reason.

My 10% candidates for yesterday were: ABK (1.29 to 1.22, -5.5%), FRE (.72 to .68, -5.5%), and ASTM (.3752 to .378, +1%). Not my expections. We'll keep trying.

My 10% candidates for today are: ABK, FRE/FNM, ASTM. I still like em.

Great day today. AMNE held firm. I was able to get out of that hemmoriod LGTT. Bought BEHL and it soared. So needless to say, I'm feeling rather good right now. As many bloggers have expressed (including myself), the last two weeks has been brutal. My last two days though, has made up the difference. My account increased overall by 20% on Friday, and 20% again today. I don't want to jinx it, but I was starting to get a little nervous.

BEHL popped up on my scans, and I had to jump in. So far so good. SYNJ held it's ground with a little pullback, but we'll have to wait and see. Looks like accumulation.

I've also been using Sogotrade for my 10% account. I shorted AXL at 4.12 and bought back at 3.53. I started with $2000. My 10% account is now at $2286. I'll keep you posted on this, but I'll tell you two things I already don't like about Sogotrade:

1) I have emailed them twice, and have yet to receive a response. Nothing aggravates me more than negligence.
2) They don't do sub-penny stocks, which I thought they did. Sub-pennies have been my bread and butter for the last year...so I know this won't work for me.

Clean profile..a little cumbersome. But trades are only $3 as compared to Scottrade's $7. So, over time, it will add up.

My 10% candidates for tomorrow: OSCI, FRE/FNM, XOMA, or BCON

Well, I've regrouped and am ready for another great week. All I'm hearing and reading is that everyone is ready for the market to pullback. It's like we're all wringing our hands and biting our fingernails. I can't say I haven't been a little anxious myself. However, I've had a few times in my short trading career that I've approached some crossroads and times of analysis. I've just had another, and thankfully, it's been in my favor. The truth is simple: We have money to make, folks. So let's do it.

I'll no longer reveal my purchases and sells in real-time, as I feel that this has worked against me. When you are dealing with pennies, especially with large audience, you never know who is working against you. And often times, the chemistry of the market can change - I've purchased many times away from my watch list, since some things develop through the course of the day. All I can ask is that you follow these picks, as they are on my watchlist.

I have every expection to see green this week. If not, I will be seeing red (literally and physically). Had some hesitation on Friday to buy HSWI, and the moment I did, it dropped 2 cents. Not something that made me feel especially good. But thnakfully, I held and it recovered for the most part. Hoping Monday and this week will see some gains on this one. It broke the parsar and the MA50, and I'm glad I didn't caught into the panic selling.

LGTT is. I hope just to get out alive. I'm holding, and refuse to let the MMs have my shares. Yes, it stinks for my account, but I do believe the bleeding will stop soon.

ACTC is a strong one, and if anything takes off, this one will, IMO. I think it could hit .20 this week. It has some strong resistances at .205,.22 and .29. Then, it's off to the races.

I'm going to be posting on Twitter my buys and sells, and hopefully I can update my site this week with my performance. I've been working on it, just haven't been able to complete it.
